IBA Detroit Community Development Corporation is a 501(c) 3 tax-exempt organization recognized by the city of Detroit and Wayne County as one of the pre-eminent community development organizations in the city working in the neighborhoods to facilitate “for profit” small business expansion where Detroiters live. A key goal of our nonprofit is the creation of opportunities for both residents and other community organizations to work together to collectively re-develop commercial corridors, housing and livelihood development, offer arts & cultural events that help create available, sustainable, unique, walkable work-live community that supports both residents and business growth and expansion.

SUMMARY OF ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
In 2019 , IBA Detroit CDC and the Independent Business Association work with First Independence Bank undertook a campaign to promote businesses on Livernois Avenue post construction to help generate retail traffic and revenues to help recover from the reduction in business caused by the 18 Million dollar Streetscape Improvement Project along Livernois Avenue. The project resulted in a commercial corridor more supportive of retailing and dining options including alfresco
• Worked with Wayne County to recruit small businesses as vendors for Wayne County as qualified approved and registered vendors doing business with the County’s Treasury & Purchasing departments is an ongoing project.
• Worked with the City of Detroit to promote and recruit businesses to apply to Motor City Match and Motor City Restore, two programs designed to specifically assist small business startup and existing businesses obtain additional funds (non-repayable grants) to improve their businesses.
• Negotiated with Mayors office to create the position of Business Development Liaison for each district to assist businesses in expediting licensure & permits, arrange inspections, prepare RFP’s and to be more responsive to the concerns and needs of small business throughout the city.
